Yugi might deny it, but he absolutely takes after his mom in a big way, personality-wise. Which means they are both very bad at sharing their concerns with each other. Like the whole Millenium Puzzle spirit possession thing (and conversely, worrying about how much Yugi keeps talking to himself as a result of that). Oops.

Also, this means his mom is just as much of a feral gremlin as Yugi is in her own way She might be out having her own weird adventures off-screen, but, as stated above, she is just as bad as sharing things that concern her as Yugi is. Oops.

Really, Yugi and his mom need to fucking talk more and Sugoroku’s life watching this and trying to nudge them to do so is suffering.

i like to think yugi’s a good cook because he and honda both came up with their own excuses to feed jounouchi with yugi’s method being to get really into trying out new recipes and have jounouchi come taste them for him. even if the recipes bad, he’ll make a new one as an apology so jounouchi eats with him either way

jounouchi catches on eventually because hes always sent home with snacks or leftovers but its fun to see what new thing yugi has found to try so he never says anything

The funniest part is he absolutely would, but also I like to think Yugi also hates cooking, so it ends up like this:

Yugi: Uuugh, I don’t even want to look at a damn pot today.

Also Yugi: Friend is hungry and stubborn about it? Oooooh, food for friend!!! Food for friend for one million years!!!!!!

sooo true, all of this, he’s the guy who will do anything out of love even the shit he really really hates

also i think it’d be so funny if he invited both kaiba and jou over in a 'two birds one stone’ kind of way to both feed them and try to get them to be nicer to each other. i cant imagine it works but hey he got them both to eat at least!

#altho i do like the thought of jou and seto forming a begrudging agreement #to seem polite and civil around yugi but every single time #they’re leaning over to whisper dumb insults to each other when hes not listening

Oh, they are absolutely still low-key snarking at each other and Yugi is 100% aware of it, but thinks it’s progress because they’re not actively at each other’s throats anymore. XD

Also, two funny bonus rounds:

–Jounouchi learns at some point that Seto started giving Yugi money for ingredients/his time and has no idea of scale, so he’s eating on Seto’s dime and is thus more willing to let Yugi feed him, because he knows that fact would annoy Kaiba. Fuck you, Kaiba, he’s eating good at your expense. >8D

–Jounouchi has learned way more about Kaiba’s weird food issues than he ever cared about, because fucked if Yugi’s cooking separate meals for y'all; he loves you both but he can only deal with this cooking bullshit for so long.
